The Bay Point (Nass Bay) aggregate occurrence is located near tidewater at the confluence of Observatory Inlet and the Nass River, approximately 3.5 kilometres northwest of the community of Kincolith.

The area lies within the western extent of the Coastal Crystalline Belt. The Belt is comprised of Paleozoic-age metamorphic rocks of the Central Gneiss Complex. Intrusive igneous rocks of the Coastal Plutonic Complex cut the metamorphic assemblage and cover large portions of the region.

Locally, an area of approximately 800 metres by 400 metres to 800 metres by 200 metres of granodiorite has been tested by surface drilling.

Three dormant quarries, referred to as the Breakwater, Wharf and Mill Bay quarries, are located in the area. Material from these quarries was used to build a breakwater and boat basin for the “Government Dock” at Gingolx and for a logging ram at Mill Bay.

In 2006 and 2007, Nass Valley Gateway Ltd. completed 23 drill holes, totalling 2749 metres, on the area as the Nass Bay Project. It was reported that the results of geotechnical testing and the examination of the property indicate that the Nass Bay property offers significant potential to host a viable source of crushed aggregates. Rock quality tests indicated that the Nass Bay intrusive rocks do not host any deleterious material, their whole rock characteristics are within normal parameters for granitic aggregates and that they meet or exceed requirements for use as concrete or road construction aggregate. The 41 element ICP analyses also shows there to be no anomalous concentrations of elements that could cause environmental or structural problems through weathering (Shepard, E.J., Henneberry, R.T.
